Tucson, AZ ( Monday, Dec 9 2013) –   The Pima Council on Aging (PCOA)  is proud to announce the appointment of  W. Mark Clark  as President and  Chief Executive Officer, effective January 2, 2014.

Clark succeeds Jim Murphy who has served as President and CEO since 2008, capping 15 years at  the nonprofit human services agency in Tucson, and announced his plan to leave PCOA last September.

“Mark has been very active in human services in our community for thirty years. He comes to PCOA with exceptional experience in strategic development and budgeting, community engagement and operational  leadership,” said  Dr. Palmer “Pal” Evans, Board Chairman.

“He will lead  the Area Agency on Aging ( AAA) with a staff of 76 specialists and two boards of directors  working  to assist  thousands of older adults and their family caregivers, including many frail homebound elders and disabled adults of all ages, living in the county,” said Dr. Evans.

Clark, who had been president and chief executive officer of  CODAC Behavioral Health Services for 12 years, more recently served as  Associate General Minister of the United Church of Christ ( UCC), headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio,  for the last two years, before returning to Arizona.

He received his B.S. degree from Northern Arizona University and an M.S.W. degree from Arizona State University. He was a 2002 Fellow at the Center for Social Innovation at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.

In 2007, he received the Lifetime Achievement award from the Arizona Coalition to End Homelessness and in 2009 he was named Social Worker of the Year by the Arizona Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.
